Receive Dilbert in your Inbox Every Morning! Back to tutorial index

Are you among the millions of people who read Dilbert everyday? Wouldn't it be cool if you could have Dilbert delivered to your email inbox every morning? Now you can do it with TrackEngine!

Prerequisite: Enable your web browser with the "Track me!" button.
If you're not a TrackEngine user yet, then sign up for a free account by clicking here. The registration process is simple and you'll receive your username and password by email shortly after you've signed up. There are a few places where you can enable your web browser with the "Track me!" button.

  • At the QuickStart page, which briefly outlines the workings of TrackEngine for new users upon their first sign-in.
  • At the My Bookmarks page, which gives existing users a quick means of enabling any web browser with the "Track me!" button.

Next, go to the Dilbert Web Site and click on the Track me! button. A dialog box will appear showing the title of the web page and some options about how often you wish to track the page and keywords. Just leave these at their default settings and click on the Expert link near the top left-hand corner of the dialog box to show a further list of options.

Scroll down to the one titled Check for new content at: where the default selection is showing the day of the week and the hour of the day. This option specifies the time at which you want TrackEngine to deliver Dilbert to your inbox. Leave the day-of-week setting as it is, and change the hour and minute settings to the time that you usually arrive at the office every morning. For example, if you reach the office at 8.30 am, then set the hour to 08 and the minute to 00 or 15 so that Dilbert arrives some time before you do. Finally, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the 'Ok' button to save your settings.

That's it! From now on, your favourite cartoon strip will be waiting for you every morning in your inbox. Some of you may not be satisfied with receiving Dilbert every morning, but wish to catch the latest strip as soon as Scott Adams puts it up on his website. Well, after monitoring it for some time, we have noticed that the cartoon strip is updated everyday at about 5am New York time (Eastern Standard Time). Depending on your time zone, you can adjust the hour and minute setting accordingly. For example, if you are living in London, you should set the hour and minute to 10 and 00 respectively.
